Scattering of Ashes at Sea
It is becoming increasingly common for people to wish to have their ashes scattered at sea - either due to a general love of the sea, religious reasons or from a past association with the sea. We offer this service throughout the year from Dover.
How we can assist:
We can take you, your friends and family (no more than 12 in total) out to sea from Dover Marina. Once we arrive at a suitable offshore location it will then be possible for you to scatter the ashes into the sea along with any floral tributes or other devotional items. Once you are ready, we go back to the Marina. This normally takes about 60 minutes in total.
If you wish, you can bring a tape or CD of any music with you that we can play over the sound system as and when you want. If you don’t have any music it is possible for you to select from something that we already have onboard if you’d like to do so.
Environment considerations:
No license or special permission is required to scatter ashes at sea. However, we do request that only bio-degradable items are placed in the sea as tributes. Items that are not suitable are things such as the urn (which should be disposed of separately), wreaths made of plastic etc. as they can have a damaging impact on the environment and marine wildlife.
What we have to make this easy:
What we charge
Please enquire when making the arrangements as these will be tailored to suit your exact requirements.
We are able to provide you with a certificate, signed by the Captain, stating the position and time that the ashes were scattered for an additional cost of £5 per certificate required.
